Probuilder, Navmesh, Agents, Terrain
In the third part of my self study, tutorial, portfolio work I was tasked with Creating a tourist scene, creating a navmesh and creating a moving player with chasing enemies. To continue with my "Spirit of Tasmania" tourist icon, I made a rough outlay of the area it docs in Devonport. By sheer coincidence, I happen to have worked at a restaurant only a few hundred meteres away. Below is a heap of photos and a youtube video showcasing the agent chasing the player, as well as the users ability to span agents using raycasting. Each agent is a prefab with an animator component and script to chase and predict the players movement
A simple water picture was taken from the internet and applied to a flat plane inbetween the terrain
Here I have moved the spirit and scalled it appropriately, I'v e also added more planes with a road texture to simulate a road. A small dock was also created for passengers to board
This is the building I made using probuilder, Inisde is broken up into various rooms, with it having a total of 2 levels, aswell as a road that surrounds the outside of the building. This is also textured with a corrigated steel picture I found with google seartch. Small trees have also been placed in the grass strip between the building.
Here I was able to succesfully bake the navmesh into my scene, unfortunately I could get my agents to move in the same manner I had in the sample scene, so for the sake on convienence and time managment I switched to progressing through the activity with the sample scene.
In the video below you can see the player ( White capsual) moving with the use of ray tracing. The enemies are prefabs from the previous activity with a AI script attached to try calculate and follow the player. I found this to be with enjoyable to think and play with
A moving wall has also been placed at the bottom of the ramp. This is a nav obstacle and has a script attached to adjust its y axis positioning.
This part of my self study/ tutorial/ portfolio work has been quite enjoyable. I enjoyed using probuilder for on-the-fly rapid building, especially with it's vertice, edgeand face selection modes
